MACHINES

Our facility features 15,000+ square feet of climate controlled shop space in three buildings and an administration/engineering office complex.

Lathes, both cnc and manual, with turning capacities up to 36” diameter X 100” long. Five of our lathes are hollow spindle designs with thru spindle capacities up to 12” diameter. These lathes are particularly well suited to pressure case manufacture.

Mills, including vertical, horizontal, large bed, knee, enclosed vertical machining centers, and high precision boring mills, with travel (cutting area) capacity up to 36” X 48” X 60”. Very long or ackward parts can be accommodated.

In house pressure test facility- 0-10,500 psi 9-1/4” diameter X 29” long, 0-10,500 psi 14” diameter X 72” long, 0-2,000 psi 19” diameter X 29” long.

Here are a few pictures of the main shop building. Note that most of our machinery is new, and CNC controlled. To improve shop personnel efficiency, all machines are equipped with similar Anilam controls.

In this view you can see seven of our eleven knee mills, with some of the larger manual lathes in the background.

This lathe is brand new, and can turn a part 36” diameter X 100” long between centers. The part being turned in the picture is a large titanium pressure case for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

In addition to our twenty cnc machines, we have more than thirty manual machines. All are equipped with digital readouts.

This is our water jet cutting machine. It can cut any material. The maximum part size is 5’ wide X 9’ long X 12” thick. The machine’s software automatically “nests” parts to cut the most parts from a given piece of stock. Our Mitsubishi wire EDM machine is in the foreground.

This is a partial view of our fully equipped air conditioned fabrication shop.

We do forming, cnc pipe bending, sheet metal fabrication, MIG, TIG, stick, spot, and oxy fuel welding. We also have the capability to perform flame spray, heat treating, grit blasting, and forging, and have the equipment and experience to perform remote fabrication.

We specialize in clean ultra high vacuum hardware fabrication, as well as sea going gear.

Our equipment list includes (6) TIG machines, (4) MIG machines, (6) stick machines, gas engine powered welding and air compressing machines, cnc heat treating ovens, (3) surface plates, and much more. Our fabrication shop has it’s own machine tools to enable timely, quality, part fabrication.

Our welders are X-ray certified to weld all common metals including low alloy steels, stainless steels, aluminum, titanium and bronzes. “Seawater qualified” fabrications are their specialty.

In another building we have our quality control department. In this purpose dedicated temperature controlled environment our inspector certifies every outgoing part, or it isn’t shipped. The inspection department has it’s own measuring tools, all new, and always currently calibrated. The granite surface plate in this room is a 4’ X 8’ “AA laboratory grade” plate, flat to < 50 millionths of an inch corner to corner. There are 5 other granite surface plates located throughout the main shop.
